Catherine Bouchard

MSW, RSW

Catherine obtained her Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Ottawa and has acquired over 20 years of experience as a Registered Social Worker (RSW). Catherine values staying current with up-to-date research and best practices through ongoing professional development and certifications. She is a member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.


In her current practice, Catherine offers counselling services to youth (12yrs+) and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, chronic illness, trauma, grief and loss.  Through her work, she draws from various therapeutic approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Trauma Informed Care, Crisis Intervention, Strength Based, Solution-Focused and Grief & Bereavement Therapy.  Catherine also works with adolescents affected by eating disorders by combining Family Based Therapy (FBT) and Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) in her interventions with families. 


Catherine previously worked at the Ottawa Children’s Aid Society, the Children’s Treatment Centre and internationally.  For more than a decade, she has been working at the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) in various clinical settings including Tertiary Care Inpatient Units, Eating Disorder Partial Hospitalization Program & Day Treatment Program, Emergency Department, Neonatal/Pediatric Intensive Care Units and Outpatient Clinics.  She has worked alongside adolescents affected by eating disorders, individuals in crisis, those parenting a child with a life-limiting illness as well as those having experienced perinatal loss.  


While working in the Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders Program at CHEO, she had the pleasure of collaborating on a publication appearing in the European Eating Disorders Review.  She is also the proud recipient of the 2018 Airdrie Thompson Guppy Award for Outstanding Social Work Practice and Innovation at CHEO. 


Catherine provides a compassionate space for individuals to explore life’s challenges while empowering them to navigate them with resilience and confidence.  Her interventions are tailored to each individual’s unique needs focusing on personal growth, practical coping strategies and greater well-being. 


For the convenience of her clients, Catherine provides care in both French and English, either through virtual or in-person appointments.
